Protective Security

Protective security is one solution within travel risk management — deployed only where assessed risk genuinely requires it, and scaled to match that risk exactly.

Proportionality comes first

Most travel does not need protective security — it needs good policy, preparation and information. We only recommend protective measures when an assessment shows that residual risk, after every other control, remains above what the organisation should reasonably accept.

When protection is warranted, it is scaled to the actual threat — never a default posture, and never more visible or intrusive than the risk justifies.

How a protection decision is made

1

Assess the risk

Threat, vulnerability and consequence, specific to the trip.

2

Exhaust lighter controls

Policy, planning and preparation are applied first.

3

Match the model

Select the least intrusive model that addresses residual risk.

4

Review continuously

Measures scale down as soon as risk allows.

Not sure which applies?

An assessment identifies the right model — if any — for your organisation.
