Initiative Training Group was founded in 2007 to bring genuine operational risk experience into the commercial world — helping organisations understand travel risk before recommending what, if anything, to do about it.

Our story

We started as a small team advising organisations on protective security for people working in complex environments. Over time, it became clear that most of the incidents we were called in to manage were preventable — the result of gaps in policy, preparation and planning long before anyone needed physical protection.

That shift in thinking became our approach: treat travel risk as a discipline in its own right, with protective security as one tool within it — deployed only when an honest assessment shows it is genuinely needed.

How we work

Every engagement starts with the same question: what does this organisation actually need to understand about its travel risk? We assess first, recommend second — the same assessment discipline that opens every client relationship, and the same framework — assess, prepare, protect, review — that runs through everything we deliver.

We are independent of any single solution. If the right answer is a better travel policy, we will say so — even when a more expensive intervention would be easier to sell.
